Since its inception, the Syrian Forum USA has prioritized education as one of its core programs. To date, we have restored 291 schools and fully supported 297 schools across northern Syria and built 4 new schools in the regions of Azaz, Qabasin, and Akhtarin, 2 of these schools are primarily aimed at accommodating orphaned children who have lost one or both parents, and displaced children who can’t afford to go to school.
The educational system in Syria has been devastated by years of conflict, resulting in over 2.4 million children being out of school, 1 million of them alone are in northern Syria. Displaced children, in particular, face significant barriers to accessing education, including a lack of safe learning environments, educational materials, and trained teachers.
Many children have missed years of schooling, creating a gap that is difficult to bridge without substantial support. The importance of continuing the educational process in northern Syria cannot be overstated. Education is not just about acquiring knowledge; it provides stability, hope, and a sense of normalcy for children who have experienced the trauma of war.
Without access to education, these young minds are at a higher risk of exploitation, recruitment by armed groups, and a lifetime of poverty. Our efforts ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn and thrive despite the challenges they face.
However, the dire need for more support to education programs in northern Syria is evident. With more resources, we can expand our reach, improve the quality of education, and provide more comprehensive support to displaced children. The commitment to education is not just about rebuilding infrastructure; it’s about restoring hope and providing a stable foundation for the future of these children.
Syrian Forum USA remains dedicated to making education accessible and impactful for all students in northern Syria. Join us in supporting this vital to make a profound difference in children’s lives and the future of Syria.
