One year after the devastating February 2023 earthquake in Syria, which resulted in massive human and material losses, efforts to rebuild and recover continue.
The Syrian Forum, a key player in the humanitarian response, has made significant strides in providing aid and rebuilding infrastructure. In the aftermath of the earthquake, the Syrian Forum, in collaboration with the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) and the Syria Civil Defense (The White Helmets), formed the “Operational Consortium.”
This consortium aims to coordinate emergency response efforts and ensure the efficient delivery of humanitarian aid to the affected regions. The Syrian Forum’s contributions have been substantial.
We have successfully restored and supported 41 schools impacted by the disaster,
rehabilitated the amphitheater of Gaziantep University in Afrin, and repaired and paved 5 kilometers of roads.
Additionally, the organization played a crucial role in rehabilitating the Afrin wholesale market, which houses over 100 commercial shops.
The Syrian Forum USA has provided nearly 4 million services to more than 200,000 individuals, including those with special needs and widowed women. Our services have reached 243 camps and shelters, offering food baskets, winter supplies, heating materials, and clean water.
We have also launched a project to restore 1,286 homes damaged by the earthquake and build 16 new homes. Despite the challenges and ongoing crisis, the Syrian Forum USA and its partners in the Operational Consortium continue to work tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people and rebuild the affected areas. Their efforts highlight the strength and resilience of the Syrian community in the face of adversity.
