Many are left to construct housing out of whatever is available. Families face harsh conditions in low-quality housing and no means for improvement. Since the crisis in Syria began, over 2 million houses have been destroyed. Without the necessary resources, 70% of civilians are unable to rebuild their homes. Omar is one of those people. Omar’s situation is unique in that he is a single father to 3 children, each with health issues. Syrian Forum rebuilt a home for Omran and his children, giving them a foundation from which to build the rest of their lives. Through 2020, Syrian Forum has rehabilitated 4,661 houses. We hope to continue our good work moving forward.

Thousands of people victimized by the conflict in Syria face thirst and dehydration every day. Clean, available, drinking water is a limited resource across Syria. Syrian Forum is fighting thirst by providing access to freshwater. We rehabilitate and install water stations to ensure Syrians never have to look too far for a glass of water. Access to clean water is part of our WASH program and supports the health and hygiene of all Syrians.

Many people underestimate a Syrian winter. Just as the desert gets unbearably hot in the summer, winter brings biting cold. The harsh drop in temperatures is only part of the reason winter is insufferable. Flooding destroys homes and fosters bacteria and disease. Soggy floors make building fires or heaters difficult.
